What we do
Most doors that get replaced could have been repaired. The hinge wore, the closer leaked, the frame took a hit from a cart, and the door followed. We fix the part that failed.
The door swings shut and bounces, or has to be lifted to latch. Usually a hinge that has worn or pulled its screws, or a strike that has drifted. Adjusted or replaced, and the latch lands where it should.
Worn, sagging or sheared hinges on wood, steel and aluminum doors; continuous hinges on heavy commercial doors that have outlasted their butt hinges; pivots on storefront doors that have dropped.
Closers that slam, drift or leak oil, adjusted where they can be and replaced where they cannot, with the arm and the mounting matched to the door's weight and the traffic through it.

How we work
A door that will not close has a cause, and it is rarely the door. We check the hinges for wear and loose screws, the closer for oil and adjustment, the frame for square and the strike for alignment. Five minutes of looking saves replacing a door that only needed a hinge. The estimate names the part.
A closer on a warehouse door that opens two hundred times a day is not the closer for an office. Hinges on a steel door are not the hinges for a hollow interior door. Common commercial hardware is usually available the same day; a door that needs a specific closer or a continuous hinge waits for the part, and we say so on the first visit rather than the second.
A repair is not done when the part is on. It is done when the door swings shut from any angle, latches without a shove, locks without lifting, and the gap around it is even. Then we check the sweep and the threshold, and tell you if anything else is on its way out.

Almost always the hinges or the strike. A hinge that has worn or pulled its screws lets the door drop, and the latch lands below the strike. Sometimes the closer is set too weak to finish the swing. Both are repairs, not a new door.
When the schedule allows, yes, and for a hinge, a closer or a strike it usually does. A bent frame or a special-order closer may take a second visit, and we say so on the first.
Not usually. Steel frames can often be straightened, or have the damaged section cut out and replaced. A frame that has been hit hard enough to shift in the wall is the exception, and we tell you when you have one.
